Suffah Carpets

Serko carpets are built to last, and Serko provides a free 2-year warranty from any manufacturer’s defaults. However, like any material item wear and tear following regular use can reduce its life-time. But with good aftercare, which includes periodic cleaning, the longevity of the carpet can be extended. This includes preventative care measures such as a shoe-free carpet zone, or simply maintaining a regular hoovering schedule. Below are a few online resources, among many widely available:

Carpets cleaning/care

Dry the carpet with warm air. Warm air helps the carpet fibers dry faster. If it’s cold out, turn up your heating and turn on a fan directed at the floor. On the other hand, if it’s a warm day, turn your AC off, open your windows, and turn on one or more fans directed at the carpet. Either option will create movement of warm air that will help speed up evaporation and lessen the time needed for your carpet to dry completely.

Keep people and pets off newly cleaned carpetsAs much as possible, don’t walk on the carpet until you’re sure it’s dried properly. Make sure your children know not to walk on the carpet, too, and keep pets away from the area while you’re at it. Walking on the carpet may flatten fibers and increase drying time.

If you absolutely have to walk on it, for whatever reason, make sure to wear clean, white cotton socks or a pair of house slippers that don’t go outside and take the shortest route possible.

Don’t move furniture back. Any furniture situated on top of your carpet that’s been moved prior to cleaning should stay where they are while the carpet dries. On the other hand, if professional carpet cleaning technician put something under your furniture to keep them off the carpet, don’t touch or remove them; again, wait until the carpet has dried.

Once it’s dry, vacuum the floor before moving furniture back to minimize the amount of dirt that gets caught on your newly cleaned carpet’s fibers.

Apply a carpet protector. Experts recommend using a carpet protection product and applying it to a newly cleaned carpet as soon as possible after professional carpet cleaning. This will prevent dirt and stains from sticking to the carpet and penetrating the fibers, thus extending the time you can go without having to call for a professional cleaning.

General Rules for Spot Removal.

  • Soak up liquids with white kitchen roll, tissues, toilet roll or a clean cloth
  • Scoop up or scrape off solids
  • Try to identify unknown spots prior to treatment- if unsure, use solvent first
  • Always work from the edge of the spot inwards
  • BLOT, do NOT rub
  • Use small quantities of spot remover at a time, applied to a cloth, NOT directly to the spot; work into the spot with a small, soft brush or sponge
  • Take care with applying solvents to bitumen-backed carpet tiles
  • When using solvents always ensure there is plenty of fresh air ventilation
  • Always thoroughly rinse out water-based spotters with clean water
  • Dry the spot, if possible, with a hair dryer
